Running
War Eagle Running Camp is an instructional camp for rising 5th-9th grade students of all ability levels. Campers will work and train directly with Marist’s cross country (XC) coaching staff, as well as current and former Marist runners to learn the fundamentals of cross country. Each weeklong session includes daily drill instruction, group runs organized by ability and current fitness alongside Marist XC coaches and veteran student-athletes, and instructional sessions aimed at understanding the basics of proper nutrition, hydration, recovery, sleep, stretching, supplemental strength training, cross-training alternatives, balancing multiple sports, etc., in a fun-filled environment. Weekly training will be structured in a manner that allows campers to apply what they’ve learned to various types of training runs (easy runs, recovery runs, long runs, threshold runs, and interval training). The camp is designed to accommodate both advanced runners and those who are newer to the sport. The War Eagle Running Camp is led by Marist Head Varsity Cross Country and Track & Field coach Matt McMurray.
